Yauvoli departs for diplomatic post
Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Amena Yauvoli, left on the repatriation Garuda Indonesia Flight GA9820 to take up his position yesterday. Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Yogesh Karan said Mr Yauvoli brought extensive experience from the public sector and regional and international organisations. He is a former Permanent Secretary of Commerce, Industry, Investment and Communication and PS Foreign Affairs. Recently he was the interim secretary-general of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF). He was the former director general of Spearhead Group. Mr Yauvoli was formerly appointed as Fiji ambassador to the United States of America to replace Solo Mara. But the New York Mission will represent Fiji in Washington, which is only one hour away by plane, as stated by the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum last year.
