Fiji’s outgoing ambassador in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kamlesh Prakash, received a brief courtesy call from the executives of Pacific Sports Academy LLC (PACSA), Ahmed and Abdullah Al Bloushi. Mr Prakash is finalising preparations before departing for his new diplomatic posting as Fiji’s new high commissioner to India.

The visit by PACSA executives was also an opportunity to thank Mr Prakash for facilitating in the various business meetings between PACSA and the Fiji Embassy in Abu Dhabi, since 2019.

Opening doors

On January 14, last year, at the conclusion of the 10th Session of the International Renewable Agency Assembly in Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, met the UAE Fijian community at the Bab Al Qasr Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

It was an opportunity which enabled Mr Ahmed to introduce his Pacific Sports Academy business plans to Mr Bainimarama.

“As a local investor, establishing and maintaining good relations with the Fiji embassy is important to the progress of my business interest as an Emirati national,” Mr Ahmed said.

“That is why I am so grateful to Mr Prakash for creating those open doors of opportunity and extending the warm Fijian invitation in 2020 that had enabled me to personally meet with Mr Bainimarama.” Mr Ahmed conveyed the well wishes of major sponsors Eufy Security

UAE and Coral Coast Public Relations on Mr Prakash’s diplomatic appointment.

Fiji, a world-renowned hub

Mr Prakash said Fiji was a worldrenowned hub and gateway to the Pacific.

Mr Prakash said Fiji looked forward to participating at the Dubai Expo in October this year.

It was also re-assuring to note last year’s meeting between Mr Bainimarama and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed

bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The meeting resulted in a renewed commitment by both leaders on the need to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, and take it to the highest level. Mr Ahmed and Mr Abdullah Al Bloushi handed over a carton of printed apparels to be donated to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) to assist in Fiji’s relief and rehabilitation efforts for TC Yasa.
