Tuna Levu Classics deferred

- WAISEA NASOKIA NADI Edited by Leone Cabenatabua

The much-anticipated Tuna Levu Classics 2021 set from this weekend has been moved to next week. Organisers at the Denarau Game and Sports Fishing Club have finalised plans for the event to take place on February 6-7.

Club president Marc McElrath said: “Due to the prevailing weather conditions, it has been decided by the committee that in the interest of safety we will be postponing the Tuna Levu for one week.”

This was the first major competition of the year and it is sponsored by the club.

The organisers feel that this tournament could attract fishing enthusiasts around the country and also hope that this will entice overseas anglers to visit Fiji.

“This big event of the year hopes to attract some 20 fishing boats each with a minimum of four anglers,” McElrath said. He added with attractive facilities provided at the Denarau Marina, and its close proximity to the deep water fishing grounds, anglers are almost guaranteed to see some great fishing action.

“We hope to see you all at the registration on Friday, the 5th of February at Cardos,” he said.
