Suva hooker Lino Vasuinadi is taking each game at a time. He is in no rush to don the Flying Fijians jumper.

The 20-year-old Vuinadi, Vaturova, Cakaudrove native, said he needed a bit of time.

He was one of the regular match-23 for the champion Suva side in the Skipper Cup Premiership last year.

“My goal is just to reach another level and keep moving forward in my rugby,” he said.

“I’m still learning and I want to improve and learn more each year. “Taking step by step every day and see where God takes me.

“I’m aiming to play for the Fijian Latui or Fijian Drua team this year,” Vasuinadi added.

The Police officer was inspired by his fellow team-mates, Tevita Ikanivere and Serupepeli Vularika who made it to the Flying Fijians squad for the Autumn Nations Cup in November, last year.

“I believe everything with God,” he said.

“A lot of people are partying but if you put your heart and mind in something that you really want, then you can achieve it.

“But it needs a lot of sacrifice and hard work and I will look at another four to five years,” Vasuinadi said.

He was named Suva Rugby Union’s rookie forward of the year during the awards night last is possible month.

“I believe it is hard work,” he said. “I was not expecting the award. “Firstly when I started the year, I did not expect to play in the Suva team.

“Coming into the team, I was very young, 20 years old, having a very experienced side with Manasa Saulo and Sireli Ledua, I was not really expecting to play.

“But to be given the opportunity to run onto the field to represent Suva.

“I am very honoured and having this award, I’m really blessed.” “I want to dedicate my award to my parents. They have been there with me, for their support during my games since high school, and then to the provincial level,” Vasuinadi said.

He was also part of the Fijian Warriors team at last year’s World Rugby Pacific Challenge where they played against Junior Japan, Samoa A and Tonga A.
