Rodan: Why we sponsor Nawaka 7s
Paradise Beverages have again stepped-up to sponsor the Fiji Bitter Nawaka Sevens tournament with a $40,000 sponsorship.
The sponsorship deal was sealed with a cheque presentation at Nawaka Village in Nadi, on Friday night. The 2021 tournament will be from February 26-27 at Prince Charles Park.
Paradise Beverages general manager sales and corporate affairs Joseph Rodan Snr said, this tournament had set the standard for the rest of the tournaments to follow. “That is one of the reasons why we have been with the Nawaka Rugby Club for the past 34 years,” Rodan said.
“The tournament sponsorship had started with $5000 and this year it is worth $40,000.
“We’ve 15 sponsored Fiji Bitter sevens’ tournaments this year as we’ll go to all the 14 provinces of Fiji. We believe sevens’ tournaments bring people together and this is one way of giving back to the country.”
Nawaka Rugby Club president, Eparama Sailo said during the event, the groundbreaking ceremony was done to make the construction of a new gym.
“The completion of this project will help develop the youths of Nawaka. This is in their training programme and also helps in the wellness programme for the villagers, for them to stay fit and healthy,” Sailo said.
“Roughly we are working stage by stage because of the weather and there were some delays in the construction.
“We are looking at around $30,000 to $40,000 worth of investment for the materials needed.”
