The Being Helping Hands Fiji (BHHF) group had assisted more than 300 families who lost all to most of their needs during Tropical Cyclone (TC) Yasa. The team of more than 15 members reached out to, Cogea Village and Nakalau Village in Vanua Levu to provide fellow Fijians with emergency relief supplies like basic food items, mosquito coils, diapers, clothes and mineral water.

Cogea Village which holds 37 homes with more than 160 villagers was one of the hardest hit by TC Yasa.

BHHF group founder, Razia Mohammed said: “We travelled nearly three hours from Labasa, on gravel roads, through narrow bridges to visit this beautiful village.

“We were the first to reach out to this village. They were gifted with essentials such as rice, biscuit, oil, mosquito coil, diapers and clothes for all sizes.”

The team also assisted two families in Naibulu, and Manidevu in Dreketi, Labasa with grocery packs.

In the village of Nakalau in the district of Seaqaqa in Macuata, the team also assisted the families with grocery packs and their immediate needs. About 15 homes were demolished by TC Yasa.

“Team BHHF is working really hard to reach out and help affected families,” she said.

“Our TC Ana relief appeal is going on requesting if people can come up and donate in cash or kind so we can reach out together and help more people.”

The BHHF team also stopped by the Golden Age Home in Labasa and supplied mineral water and biscuits for the 28 residents of the Home.

Meanwhile, the team also did school shopping for 100 students.
