Head Prefects Ready to Live Up to New Roles

Maintaining discipline is on the agenda of Rotuma High School’s new head boy. Semesa Bulibuli was appointed to his new position earlier this week.
The 18-year-old who hails from Drekeniwai Village in Navatu, Cakaudrove and shares maternal links to Navakaka Village in Navatu, Cakaudrove said: “I was not expecting to be elected the head boy of the school and since the teachers have confidence in me, I will make sure that school rules are always followed.
“In order for the students to be disciplined, I will need to be a role model and be an example to them.
“I know that being a head boy comes with a lot of responsibilities, but I will work hard to ensure that I balance my studies and my role.
“To reach this far was not easy; I had to go through struggles, especially coming from a poor family.
“I want to thank my parents, guardians, relatives and teachers for always encouraging me to do better in life.”
The school’s new head girl Lesheena Kaurasi said her new role meant that she would be a role model for the other students. The 17-year-old hails from Juju Village in Rotuma said: “I have to make sure that I have an open mind when dealing with students, but I have to be firm when there is a need.
“With my new role, I will have to manage my time wisely,” he said.
“I want to thank my parents, teachers and older siblings because they have played important roles in my life for me to reach this far.”
