New Head Girl Credits Mum’s Support

My mother has always been supportive and making her proud was always my main priority.
This is what Vasemaca Cevanalagi said after she was badged as William Cross College head girl.
The 17-year-old, who hails from Yavitu Village, Naceva in Kadavu and shares maternal links to Yavea Village in Vanuabalavu, Lau said her mother was someone who had constantly believed in her and always gave her encouragement.
“I am not the first head girl in my family. My older sister was also the head girl of this school in 2019,” she said.
“I know that I am bound to face challenges, I believe hardships motivate people to become the better version of themselves.
“The head boy and I with the help of the prefects will make sure that discipline is maintained in the school throughout this year.” Vasemaca is aiming to become a nurse in the future.
Meanwhile the school’s head boy Sosiveta Camaiverata thanked the teachers for believing in him.
The lad who hails from Kaba Village in Bau, Tailevu and shares maternal links to Tokalau Village in Kabara, Lau said: “The teachers have chosen me to be the head boy this year and I will not let them down.
“I am the first in the family to be the head boy and that means a lot to me because I am setting an example to my family.
“As the head boy I have to make sure that I lead by example because the teachers have entrusted this role to me because they believed in me. “Discipline is something we strive to maintain in the school and I believe that with the help of the prefects we can do that.
“My role comes with a lot of challenges and I am ready to overcome them all.”
60 prefects were inducted on Thursday.
