Rahiman’s passion for motorcycles rakes in money

Abdul Rahiman’s interest and was passion for motorcycles became a reality five years ago when he set up his own motorcycle business.
His business, Bike Doc (Fiji) operates from his home in Davuilevu Housing in Nine Miles.
Mr Rahiman, 65 and his son Abdul Jnr run and manage the business. The motorcycle business is the only source of income for the family of six.
He started off from scratch as he didn’t have the right tools.
“I saved up to buy the tools and equipment over the years,” he said.
He said the earnings from the business were enough for his family and the managing of his business.
“We thank our customers for recommending us to other bike owners. We also thank the Almighty for providing us with great knowledge and patience.
“We continue to operate this business because of the increasing number of motorcycles demanding professional service and safe riding. Our business fluctuates at times but with the number of motorcycles increasing over the years, business is good.
“Maintenance and repair cost range between $120-$450 for services, repairs and restore cost depend on availability of parts which range from $300-$800.
“We also do 10 point checkups for $50 for all kinds of bikes.
“Service includes repairing, restorations and servicing. He said they repaired, restored and serviced motorbikes as well.
“We also do the Land Transport Authority motorcycle registration renewals.” He said the business was down during the peak of COVID-19.
“We had to provide our services at a cheaper price so that it would be affordable to the bikers.”
Motorcycles were imported from Australia with spare parts like tyres, batteries, helmets and other accessories available locally from Wing Lee Motors, Asco Motors, Racers Edge and other bike shops around Fiji.
