Head boy to improve discipline among male students
The newly-elected head boy of Tilak High School, Enele Ma’afu, will be seeing that the area of discipline among male students is improved this year. The Tongan lad was badged together with the school’s head girl, Shristisiwani Sharma, at the school’s prefects induction ceremony on Friday.
More than 150 students were inducted as prefects.
“I am feeling very happy and surprised because I haven’t been a prefect since I was in Year 9 to Year 11 and in Year 12 I was only a form captain,” he said.
“This year I am the head boy of the school. I am proud of my achievement.
Enele said a few months after the COVID-19 pandemic began, when students were required to return to school, he saw that their behaviours had changed.
He said he would be working with the student council body to find a solution to their behavioural change.
“That is something that I want to improve here at Tilak High School,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shristisiwani dedicated her achievement to her parents and especially to her father, Sunil Sharma who is the sole bread winner of their family.
“This is one day that I will never forget,” she said.
The Assistant Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Joseph Nitya Nand, who officiated at the induction, urged the students to forgive and learn their roles well as leaders of the school.
Enele and Shristisiwani will be assisted by the deputy head girls, Kelera Baravilala, Wyntah Underwood and Tasveer Aujla and deputy head boys, Joseph Atalifo, Jastein Singh and Aryan Raj.
