‘A good newspaper is a nation talking to itself’
Delayed flight Jaheed Buksh, Sigatoka
How come religious garland ended up at the Fiji Airways A330 aircraft’s engine, which was bound for New Zealand?
Definitely, it cannot be a passenger because they don’t use that platform. This is not a small issue but a major threatening setback, despite the tight security. Even an airport staff member cannot carry such things inside the premises! Fiji Airports and Fiji Airways really should investigate and stop anyone from carrying such items.
Famous Lynda
Sukha Singh, Labasa
After looking at Lynda Tabuya’s pictures in the newspaper, I think she can become a world-famous fashion model.
SODELPA solution
Jan Nissar, NSW Australia
I have said this before, and I will say it again, the only solution to all of SODELPA’s problems is to close the party down. Problem solved!
If people in Fiji cannot do it, someone send me a plane, please.
Tobacco farming Simon Hazelman, Savusavu
Why are we encouraging the farming of tobacco?
The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced, killing more than eight million people a year around the world, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Domestically, tobacco use kills approximately a thousand Fijians each year. Such a huge price to pay for economic gain.
The use of tobacco harms development, our environment, and equality, and increases the incidence of non-communicable diseases. We ought to be encouraging healthier options instead of deadly ones.
There is a serious and urgent need for Government and our policy makers to take the appropriate action, for the sake of a healthier and productive nation.
Our greatest wealth is health, and I cannot understand why we continue to ignore that fact and head the other way instead?
No care whatsoever, is all I can say!
