Public Rental Board (PRB) tenants have been warned to comply with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services’ COVID-19 directives or face the consequences.

The board said it would not hesitate to take necessary action against tenants who are caught and charged by Police for not following COVID-19 safety regulations.

Acting general manager PRB, Patrick Veu, said he had received complaints from tenants in Mead Road and their Lautoka Estates that some were not adhering to the COVID-19 directives.

“These are the advisories not to host non-work social gatherings, house partying or gathering people for no good or valid reason,” Mr Veu said.

He has urged staff members to remind tenants not to disregard the advice from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

And while many of their staff live outside of the containment areas, Police have been asked to help monitoring these complaints.

“I think the easiest way out is to be in touch with the Police and those who are charged will be dealt with according to the tenancy agreement,” he said.

“Everyone must follow the directives and that is what I am telling our officers who can access the estates, to follow the directives pointed out by the ministry.

“Even though no one has been charged must take the advisories seriously.”

He said they have been confirmed as non-essential services and were only operating for emergency purposes for maintenance work on electrical faults and water issues. “My final message is for all our tenants to follow the directives from the Health Ministry and it is important that we follow these instructions for the safety of all tenants. Please ensure that you are not doing anything that is not within the law”.

The PRB has 20 estates around the country. yet, everyone
