Politcal Upheavals Tukai Lagonilakeba, Nadi

Great story Fiji Sun on Explainer page 2 and 6, Friday May 21, relevant to Farzana Gounder story of her distasteful experience from the George Speight civilian coup of 2000 which almost shattered her dreams to making a name for herself in the land and country she was born which she will always call home after immigrating to Kiwi Land.

Such story is abound with the thousands of Fijians who had migrated and left our shores for greener and safer pastures since the Rabuka coup of 1987 to their now many adopted countries. Good luck to them for what they have become, but Fiji will always be their Fiji any second or time they decide to come back.

Let’s not forget this and we can thank and commend the then interim Commodore Bainimarama Government leadership who brought stability back as soon as it was practicable after the 2000 upheaval during which our country had experienced some of the darkest moments in our history including that of his bloodless December 2006 takeover from the right wing nationalist Qarase SDL government.

Many former Fijians are now confidently back in the country of their birth doing business through their many investment interests and are now applying for their dual citizenship through the foresight of this visionary FijiFirst leadership.

The COVID-19 pandemic had brought this return movement to a halt for the time being, but otherwise the droves will still remain confident in returning after we normalise and recover again.

Thank you PM Bainimarama for reassuring the safety, livelihood and confidence of these former Fijian citizens through our world acclaimed 2013 Constitution should they decide to return, but for that matter, any political upheaval for our country is counter productive in any sense.

Flying Fijians vs All Blacks!

Ronnie Chang, Nadi My oh my, what a sheer stroke of good fortune, luck and golden opportunity for the Flying Fijians to take on the might of the All Blacks.

Come July 3rd and 10th, 2021, New Zealand will be in the middle of their freezing winter. Back to back matches with the mighty ABs come once in a lifetime. Dunedin and Hamilton await us.

Can the Flying Fijians acclimatise in the harsh Kiwi winter? Can we deliver a David and Goliath fairy tale? We can !!!!

Remember, when the Pumas caused the ABs pain and misery with their victory, Flying Fijians can deliver the same, too. Believe !!!

We are now challenged to do the same with our own brand of hard open running 80-minute rugby laced with explosive brilliance and unquestionable guts. Fiji must dominate from the get-go. Deny possession every step of the way.

We have one chance in a million to cause the greatest upset.

FRU, in my humble view must put together the Best 30 players we can ever offer ...... no holds barred. Any historymaking rugby victory against the All Blacks is the tonic Fiji needs to rise from the depths of our COVID misery.
