COVID-19 ASSISTANCE

FIJI FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION PREPARES REACHING OUT PROGRAMME

- WAISEA NASOKIA NADI Edited by Leone Cabenatabua

The Fiji Football Association is preparing to once again assist players and officials during this pandemic time.

Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said yesterday they are currently doing a survey on the wider football community especially those who have been affected by the second coronavirus outbreak.

“We are looking into it, but first we have to complete the survey before we can comment,” Patel said. It is understood that an email on the COVID-19 survey had been sent from Fiji FA to all district presidents, whose teams are playing in the Digicel Premier League and Digicel Super Women’s League. After they are assisted, then Fiji FA will reach out to the other teams (men and women) from the Senior Division and so on.

The email stated that the survey will see the Fiji FA finance committee having consultation with the respective presidents to see where the need is and how they could be assisted during this crisis.

Last year, Fiji FA in partnership with the Punjas Group of Companies, distributed OFC Solidarity Fund packages to 400 players and officials.

The OFC Solidarity Fund was developed by Oceania Football Confederations in order to support staff, volunteers, players, coaches, referees, and the wider football community in the region, which included Fiji.

Meanwhile, various district officials have been assisting their players and officials.
