Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has hinted the possibility of implementing more re-opening measures in the near future, provided Fijians become the impact makers.

While speaking on the iTaukei Lalakai radio programme yesterday, he said: “Movements from non-containment to containment areas have started. True to my promise, we are delivering what you need the most. I’ve got more good news for you. That is not the end. It is just the beginning.

“If you want to return to normal life faster, if you want to bring the good days back faster, if you want our economy to recover faster, church services to resume faster, then get yourself vaccinated.

“Be the impact maker that we want. Be the impact player that we seek. And the greatest impact you can do right now is to get vaccinated.

“The end is already in sight. And it will be more visible when more Fijians join us. GET VACCINATED. FOLLOW COVID-SAFE PROTOCOLS.

“Countries are beginning to open their borders to foreign nationals who have been fully vaccinated. We too want to move around freely, but it needs a certain percentage of our pop

ulation to be vaccinated.”

So far 252,791 Fijians have received their first dose of the

COVID-19 vaccine while 12,246 are now fully vaccinated.

Mr Bainimarama promises that help will continue to come their way to push out the voice of dissent and reinforce the belief that Fiji will be free from

COVID-19.

“The good guys are coming. They are for you and not against you.”

With the help of stakeholders, the Government has distributed 5000 masks, 300 thermal guns and 1000 litres of sanitizers to all provinces.

“I promised and we delivered.

It was a blind leap of faith. But it was with the confidence that

Fijians are beginning to see that we will turn what many see as an impossible situation around,” he said.

He thanked everyone who had been vaccinated, those who are stern in their belief that Fiji would overcome the virus, those who were helping others who were in need and those who are adhering to the COVID-safe protocols.

“You are the impact maker that we seek. Your support is the shot in the arm we need to eliminate this virus.”

Referring to reports from the Roko Tui’s he said positive developments took place on many fronts, with the continuation of the exchange of food at the borders, expansion of commercial ventures in the maritime islands and vaccination awareness in all Provinces.
