No vaccination, no entry: Lyndhurst Group

- Source: Lyndhurst Group of Companies.

From today, staff of Lyndhurst Group of Companies, will not be allowed on the premises, if they are not vaccinated. The company directive follows revelation that an estimated 600 of its 1000 workers were vaccinated.

The move marks the need to operate in a safe environment, the company said in a statement.

“The group assisted its employees in accessing the government’s free vaccination programme as an added protection for them and their families, as well as for their work colleagues and their families,” the statement said.

“We ran buses to bring staff who wanted to be vaccinated, to the factory, with the assistance of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

“We also arranged two further vaccinations to cater for our staff on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

“This we know is a tough call to make, but the law holds us responsible for the duty of care of all of our employees.”

Lyndhurst

Group of Companies resumed operations from June 7, 2021.

The group is currently operating in two bubbles working three days a week from Monday to Wednesday, and Thursday to Saturday respectively.

“These two Bubbles will increase to five-day shifts with one Bubble operating during the day, and night shift for the other,” the statement from chief executive officer, Rokoseru Nabalarua, said.

The bubbles are an attempt to address an increase in business demand, which is positive as overseas customers are buying.

“Part of our compliance meant that we assisted in the purchase of 600 smart phones for employees to enable them to install and activate the careFiji app on these phones,” Mr Nabalarua said.

“Whilst the company respects the individual rights of its employees, this needs to be weighed against the rights of our staff that have been vaccinated, and the overall duty of care that the employer has to ensure that all employees in the Lyndhurst Group are safe.”

SunBiz’s queries to the group remained unanswered when this edition went to print.
