Semi injured, Bears out
Semi Radradra could make his way to Australia after his table-toppers Premiership Rugby Bristol Bears bombed out of the semi-final yesterday.
The Bears squandered a 28-point lead to lose a mind-blowing Gallagher Premiership semi-final to Harlequins after extra time 36- 43.
The Bears were down to 13 men as Harry Thacker and Radradra left with injuries in the 97 th minute.
The gravity of Radradra’s injury was yet to be verified.
The former Flying Fijians captain has declared his interest to play for Fiji at Tokyo Olympics next month.
Radradra was not named in the 33member Flying Fijians squad by Head Coach Vern Cotter earlier this week as Gareth Baber is also interested in the Taveuni native for the Olympics.
Radradra will miss the Oceania 7s this week but will have enough time to prepare for the Olympics if Baber selects him.
Two overseas-based players Vilimoni Botitu and Aminiasi Tuimaba are currently undergoing the 14 days mandatory quarantine in Australia and are expected to feature in the Oceania 7s which starts on Thursday.
Award for Naulago
Meanwhile, fellow Fijian Siva Naulago has claimed The Famous Grouse Try of the Season award, for his stunning effort against London Irish in the mouthwatering 34-34 draw in February.
The Fijian powerhouse notched his second score of the contest after a brilliant exchange of passes with Charles Piutau, eventually racing away to cross for his third try of the season.
Naulago’s effort narrowly edged out that of Bears teammate Radradra against Leicester Tigers for the end-ofseason gong, with the latter finishing off a sumptuous breakaway move initiated by Siale Piutau.
Josh Hodge’s try for Exeter Chiefs against Gloucester Rugby came third in the final vote.
The shortlist and winner for The Famous Grouse Try of the Season award were selected by a panel of media professionals alongside more than 1,600 votes from the public as the 10 th judge.
