Stay focused! Prepare well, The All Blacks will be more physical in Hamilton

- LEONE CABENATABUA Feedback: leonec@fijisun.com.fj

The brave performance of our Fiji Airways Flying Fijians in their 57-23 loss to the All Blacks in the first Test in Dunedin should now be water under the bridge.

From today, it’s back to reality.

The focus is on this Saturday’s second Test match at the FMG Stadium Waikato in Hamilton.

The challenge for the Levani Botia-captained side is to lift their performance to the next level.

The All Blacks will be a lot meaner and more physical this time around compared to what they were last Saturday.

The hosts are definitely going to target the turnover areas the Flying Fijians had exploited.

The likely return of their experienced backrower Ardie Savea, confirms their intention.

The All Blacks will surely find ways of shutting down our loose trio of John Dyer, Mesulame Kunavula and Albert Tuisue.

That’s why the Flying Fijians need to stay focused on their preparation in the next few days. They should not be distracted by the praises hurled at them by the New Zealand media or the saga surrounding their change of jersey.

The focus should be on the tasks ahead and how they can best execute it to get the much- desired result.

Nothing is impossible, if only they keep their discipline and pile on the pressure right to the final whistle. Go, Fiji, Go.

COVID free start for Team Fiji

Great news that the Team Fiji athletes and officials have settled well in Oita, Japan. They have started their training as they await the Olympic Games, which gets underway on July 23 and ends of August 8.

The Japanese Olympic officials have conducted swab tests on the athletes and officials. They have returned negative.

The challenge now is for our athletes and officials to stay within their bubble and adhere to all health protocols.

They must keep to this until they return home. It has been a great start and we applaud the great work done by each respective officials under the leadership of Team Fiji chef de mission Patrick Bower.
