Footpath Horror
Father’s Day this year is not the same for Suliasi Wasakitoga.
Mr Wasakitoga’s only Father’s Day prayer was for his son Luke Sulinibau to be healed and justice for his son.
The father of four was emotional as he talked about his son, Mr Sulinibau, who is currently in critical condition at the Colonial
War Memorial Hospital.
Mr Sulinibau was the victim of a hit-and-run accident along Milverton Road on Saturday morning
“This Father’s Day is different for my family. When I was informed of my son’s accident I just couldn’t think straight,” Mr Wasakitoga said.
“On Saturday, I had a lot of things to do but I couldn’t go anywhere because it was hard for me to do anything when I think of my son.”
He said he could not watch the
accident that was circulating on social media.
Mr Wasakitoga said he could not watch the video of his son being hit by someone who did not have the courtesy to stop and see how he was.
“I want justice for my son. Our family is praying.”

Josua Tuiroro, 19, was walking along the footpath with the victim when the incident happened.
Mr Tuiroro who was in tears said they were on their way to work that morning and were joking.
“He was asking me about my perfume, and I opened my bag to show him, Luke was pushing me towards the fence.
“The next thing I saw
Luke’s shoes was on the road. I called out to him.”
He said as he went closer, he was shocked to see the injury on Mr Sulinibau’s face. He quickly got help.
“When I tried to call someone for help, I forgot the password for my phone and then I remembered that we met Luke’s brother and some youths from our neighborhood 10 minutes before the accident.
“I ran towards them waving and shouting to get their attention,” he said.
Mr Tuiroro said he has not been able to eat or sleep since the accident and it has been hard for him.
“I grew up with Luke and we were close. He is like a brother to me. I hope that the driver is brought to justice after what he did.”
