Shipping companies ready to provide services
The local shipping companies are now ready to provide their passenger services to Vanua Levu.
Goundar Shipping Limited
The Goundar Shipping Limited managing director George Goundar said there were many people who were displaced at the moment.
“Some are still here in the mainland and haven’t been to their home for the past six to seven months,” he said.
“Hopefully it opens us and people could travel like before, freely, without any fear.”
The Gounder Shipping Limited has completed 10 years of operations.
Mr Goundar said he was looking forward to achieving more in the years to come.
The company was looking forward to purchasing more ships next year.
Mr Goundar said they were following all the guidelines implemented by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

According to the Interlink Shipping Line Limited Facebook page:
■they would only allow fully vaccinated passengers to travel to Vanua Levu, followed by seven days immediate home quarantine.

Prime Minister on boat travelling
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama had earlier announced on October 10 that:
■Peop●e who are fully vaccinated can travel to Vanua Levu and outer islands by boat or by air with transport companies that are COVID safe compliant.
■Trave●●ers must register a negative COVID-19 test result on the Rapid COVID-19 test before arrival.
■Upo■ arrival, the travellers must enter immediate seven days home quarantine.
■The quarantine requirement for inter-island travel will be dropped as more Fijians in the Northern and Eastern divisions are fully vaccinated.
■From November 11, the Fijian Government will open regular inter-island travel if the vaccination rate continues to rise in the Northern and the maritime islands.
