25 Naividamu houses rebuilt
Twenty-five of the 26 houses at Naividamu in the Northern Division, which were destroyed during Tropical Cyclone Yasa, have been rebuilt after six months.
Rehabilitation Project officer Pita Ramasima said their aim was to accommodate the families in their homes before the new cyclone season approaches.
“After much discussion and through the approval and assistance from the office of the Commissioner Northern, we assessed the damage and made a timeline to complete our work,” Mr Ramasima said.
“We had funds coming in from our relatives living in the urban areas and abroad that were able to finance materials such as nails, strap, and roofing iron.
“We had approval to use the fallen trees within our land area to produce for housing materials.”LAISA
