Health Services Management a demanding sector in Fiji
Mental health in childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones and learning healthy social skills and how to cope when there are problems.
Some children may have the ability to cope with stress while others may need guidance and support.
They may show sudden behavioral change rather than expressing stress in words.
ACCF would like to highlight the following tips for parents in protecting their child’s mental health:
■He●p your children open up about problems when you notice something is bothering them.
■Liste■ to your children when they want to share issues they are facing, by developing their communication skills.
■Bui●d their confidence in problem solving.
Teach them to be more organised to prevent stress by assisting them to plan their work.
Encourage your children to take part in outdoor physical activities.
Health services management is an in-demand sector. With an undergraduate degree, it can open the doors to a variety of lucrative and fulfilling job opportunities.
But the doors that open will depend on who you want to serve and how.
At the Fiji National University, the Bachelor of Health Services Management programme for Health Services Managers, is structured to train students in the planning, organising, leading and controlling of health care organisations and facilities.
Health services managers deal with non-medical operations of a healthcare facility.
They help to co-ordinate and plan health services at a health facility.
In Fiji where health care providers have been working around the clock for COVID patients, health managers have had to ensure health services were not disrupted.
Public demand for health services has also placed heavy pressure on Health Service Managers.
As they may have had to manage an entire facility or a specific clinical area during a pandemic period.
The Health Services Management programme will support and guide students to gain skills and competencies in health management, health planning, health policy, health information systems, health leadership, health research, quality assurance, clinical governance, risk management, health communication, health human resources, health finance, health economics, project management and contemporary health management.
The Health Services Management programme provides its graduates with numerous employment possibilities in health care organisations and health facilities throughout Fiji and the Region, NGOs, private health settings, GPs, etc
