TikTok cyberbullying accused, Anisa Khatoon Gwaizda, was denied bail again yesterday by the Nadi Magistrates Court.

Despite strong arguments from her lawyer Faizal Koya, Gwaizda, wept as Magistrate Peni Dalituicama, refused her bail.

The decision was strongly supported by State lawyer from the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Prenika Lata, who argued that there was no guarantee that Gwaizda would return to Fiji for her case.

Mr Koya had asked the court for bail variation to allow Gwaizda to travel back to Australia because of her son’s medical condition and attend to her business matters.

He also said Gwaizda was only allowed for online service for the purposes of business.

However, the prosecution also told the court that the videos Gwaizda had posted online had nothing to do with her business.

“On her videos, she talks about haters and nothing relevant to online businesses. We have strong evidence on her videos on social media which supports our case,” she said.

“I ask the court for her total ban from social media.”

Mr Koya also told the court that Gwaizda would comply with everything that the court imposed and have a review date to see whether the court was satisfied with her conduct.

This proved unconvincing as Magistrate Dalituicama was in favour of the prosecution and asked Mr Koya to file a formal bail application to the ODPP by 9am today so that the matter could be delt with tomorrow.

Gwaizda will be remanded at the for a day at the Namaka Police Station and a day at the Natabua Remand Centre.
