Joining the extended Rooster Chicken Fijiana XVs squad is an exciting journey for Asinate Serevi, says her dad Waisale Serevi.

Fondly known as Nate, Serevi said, he’s proud of his daughter.

The maestro was contacted by the coaching staff of the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua about two months ago of a possible spot for Nate in the squad.

“I called Nate and she was excited about the idea,” Serevi said.

Nate has always dreamt of following her father’s footsteps.

To be selected as a member of the Fijiana XVs extended squad is a dream come true.

“I’ve always told her, playing with the Fijian boys is the best feeling ever because you don’t have a lot of money, but you have a big heart to represent your country,” Serevi said.

“She was so happy and as soon as she went to camp on the first day, Gospel music was blasting, she was crying and she said this was what she wanted to do.”

Serevi congratulated the Fijiana Drua’s successful Super W win and the coaching staff for giving opportunities to overseas based-players.

With Nate’s experience, Serevi believes she will make a positive contribution to the team.

“She played for USA Rugby. Nate played in the Super Series, and she played against New Zealand Black Ferns, Canada and France.

“I thank God for the opportunity that has come through to Nate.”

She is one of the five overseasbased players selected into the 32-member extended Fijiana XVs squad.

The other four players are:

■ Brumbies flanker Talei Wilson;

■ Reds star 2020 Super W Player of the Year Ema Masi;

■You■g rugby league prospect Luisa Yaranamua

■Quee■s●a■d based- Anna
