The Fiji Muslim League extends greetings (Eid Mubarak) to the Muslim community and the entire nation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

With the sight of the new moon yesterday, Ramadan Kareem is finally over.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the blessed and holy month of Ramadan and is a time of joy and celebration.

Fiji Muslim League national president Hafiz Khan said the holy month of Ramadan was a blessing to those who desired for the acceptance of the Almighty and who, in obedience, have fasted to acquire piety and discipline.

“This period of unquestioning restraint strengthens the believer’s resolve to adhere to the teachings of Allah with an unwavering loyalty,” he said.

The month-long fasting ends with the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, which symbolises a reward for their fasting.

“Eid-ul-fitr is a happy occasion for Muslims to feast and rejoice. It is also a day to say thanks to the almighty Allah for all that he blesses us with,” he said.

“The essential lessons of Eid-ulFitr encourage us to make sacrifices and to reflect on our own lives and the ways in which we can live for the benefit of our family, community and our country.

“As we gather in our mosques and homes to observe this joyous event, let us resolve to always demonstrate peace, love and equality which are the inherent features of Islamic teachings.

“Let us continuously direct our hearts towards strengthening our society based on mutual understanding, respect and love.

“May Allah open the doors of happiness and prosperity for us. Before we ask for happiness and prosperity, we should ask for mercy. May Allah shower his mercy on us.

“I wish you and your family a very joyful Eid. May Allah accept all our prayers and forgive all your faults.”
