ABOUT 50 VILLAGES EARMARKED

Minister for Waterways Mahendra Reddy says there are about 50 villages that have been earmarked for relocation because of the impacts of climate change. Mr Reddy made the revelation after being queried by the media on the number of villages that needed relocation because of sea level rise as a result of climate change. “At the moment the Climate Change unit has about 47 or 48 villagers that have been earmarked for relocation,” he said. “It is close to 50.”
