Rabuka buries past, puts trust in deputy leader Manoa Kamikamica

The People’s Alliance (PA) party leader Sitiveni Rabuka has made it clear he has no issues with Manoa Kamikamica being the deputy leader of his party.
In 1994 it was Mr Kamikamica’s father, Josefa Kamikamica, who played a major role in trying to overthrow Mr Rabuka from Government during the snap elections the same year. He was his rival.
“If I refer to his father’s past, then I will be hypocritical by criticising or chastising those who look into my past,” he said.
“I’m not worried about that. I trust Manoa.”
Mr Rabuka said Mr Kamikamica had been with him from the ‘initial stage’ of forming the party, indicating that he trusts the deputy leader.
“The past is the past and the present is the present,” he said.
“I have to walk the talk and say do not worry about the past. Be concerned about the present as you walk into the future.”
Mr Rabuka named 12 provisional candidates on Monday as he builds his political party for the upcoming general election.
He said he would announce other eligible candidates in the coming days.
