Nightclubs Boost on Game Night
Nightclubs in Suva raked in more money than they expected last weekend as the City hosted the first Super Rugby match.
Revenue these clubs earned just for Saturday alone were what they usually received in a week.
Down Under pub operation manager, Donald Wainiqolo had been operating in Suva for the past 14 years.
“We’re very fortunate that the Government had allowed for taverns and nightclubs to open and the games to happen as the business was really good for us,” Mr Wainiqolo said.
“It was really good as there was a big difference from what we get on a normal week as we had a big spike on the sales on that night with an increase of 29 per cent.
“We’re looking forward to future Super Rugby Games in the coming years as it boosted the business and also provided employment.”
Mr Wainiqolo said they would increase their staffing when Fiji hosts bigger games.
Opium Bar Fiji operations manager Isei Erenavula said the Super Rugby game last Saturday brought in more clients and customers.
Mr Erenavula said customers made use of their Drua bucket promotion, that had five cans of Drua beer in a bucket for only $21.
He said there was an increase of 85 per cent of sales on that particular night compared to every other night.
Another stock manager Jokapeci Tamanitoakula of Hilltop Tavern said the game brought in a lot of business as their club was filled with rugby fans wanting to drink grog or beer.
Mr Ligairi said they made about 70 per cent of their weekly target.
