Pension Scheme only for those above 65 years

The Government’s Social Pension Scheme is for senior citizens over 65 years of age; those who do not have an existing superannuation fund.

Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar said that this included subsistence farmers and those in the informal sector without regular income support.

She also clarified that senior citizens who have farmed all their lives and had never paid Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) or any superannuation allowances were eligible for this scheme
