The possibility of Fiji hosting a Super W match next season will be put to the table during the Super W review meeting between Rugby Australia and Fiji Rugby Union.

FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor said the success of the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua in their debut Super W is what they are going to ride on when they meet with RA officials.

“There will be a Super W review and we will meet with Rugby Australia,” O’Connor said.

“We would be listing them our interest in also having at least one Super W match here.”

The Rooster Chicken Bitila Tawake-captained side caused ripples with a clean sweep of their regular season Super W matches beating Waratahs 29-10, winning over Queensland Reds 27-12 and taming the Brumbies 17-7.

The Australian women sides that were part of the previous season but did not take part this year are Western Force and the President’s team.

The Rooster Chicken Fijiana XVs lost to Japan 28-14 on Sunday in the Tri-Series match, they face the Wallaroos on Friday.

O’Connor said the big turnout at the recent Swire Shipping Fijian Drua and Highlanders match last Saturday was a good indication of home support.

This was the Fijian Druas’ 10th match, they have lost nine; their historic 31-26 win was against Melbourne Rebels in their third match.

Their first, a warm match the Fijian Drua had edged Rebels 28-26 but lost in their third encounter 42-27 for Rebels to register their first 2022 Super Rugby Pacific win.

On Saturday before a 15,102 sellout crowd Highlanders sneaked past the hosts 27-24 after trailing 17-24 at half time at the ANZ stadium on Saurday.

It was a 2022 Super Rugby Pacific record.
