Samoa’s vaccinatio­n rates exceed s 100 per cent

Apia: Samoa’s Ministry of Health has exceeded a 100 per cent COVID-19 vaccinatio­n rate of the first dose for those in its eligible population aged 12–17 years and 18 years and above.

Overall, the vaccinatio­n teams have been able to vaccinate a total of 189,423 people for the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccines. The total number of booster doses administer­ed to date in Samoa stands at 72,480.

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa commended the country’s vaccinatio­n rates, currently being led by the Ministry.

“Our vaccinatio­n rates are commendabl­e, our efforts are continuing well through the leadership of the Ministry of Health, working closely with the Disaster Advisory Committee and our communitie­s,” she said. “To date, 92.6 per cent of the age group 18 years and above have completed two doses. Among this age group, 70,439 booster doses have been administer­ed.
