Suva stay unbeaten in Marama comp

The Suva Women’s rugby side continued their unbeaten run in the ANZ Marama Champioshi­p after they trounced Lautoka 41-5 at Bidesi Park yesterday.

What happened: Lautoka took the lead through an unconverte­d try to centre Avisake Kurulo in the 5th minute.

Powerhouse Suva No.8 Lavenia Tinai dived over to level the scores at 5-5 in the 20th minute.

Suva fullback Miliakere Vakarewa scored in the 27th minute as they took a 10-5 lead before first five eight Mereoni Moceituba extended their lead in the 35th minute with another try and Tinai landed the conversion. Halftime: Suva 17-5 Lautoka. Tinai ran from their 22m line to score her second try try for the Capital City side for a handy 24-5 lead.

Lautoka’s Luisa Tora was red carded for a high tackle and it was all Suva from here.

Suva further extended their lead to 29-5 through a converted try.

Substitute flanker Vitalina Mirini added another five points for Suva with the conversion going over as they led 36-5. It was Moceituba who scored the final try with the conversion going wide for the win.
