- SAMPRAS ANAND Edited by Losirene Lacanivalu

Mother’s Day celebration has been a different experience for Rohini Lal after her only child, Jiya Jaanvi, was allegedly murdered close to two years ago at Namara in Labasa.

Yesterday, marked about 22 months since her 14-year-old daughter who was a Labasa College student, was found dead around 8pm in their rented flat on July 22, 2020, while her mother was at work.

She was discovered with clothes soaked in blood at the door of the house by their landlord.

When Fiji Sun contacted Ms Lal yesterday, she was emotional as she described the loving and caring nature of her daughter.

She said when Jiya was alive, she would go to her bedroom and give her a hug and kiss every Mother’s Day.

“I don’t feel like doing anything because I miss every moment of my time with my daughter and these were the most beautiful days of her life,” she said.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said investigations into the matter was still open.

Ms Lal conveyed her best wishes to all mothers around the country and believed mothers should appreciate and feel lucky when they still had their children safely with them.
