Defence to obtain instructions on contesting caution interview
Laisani Salaba’s defence counsel has been given time to obtain instructions of contesting the caution interview to file voir dire grounds in the case of an alleged stabbing incident.
The woman, Laisani Salaba, is charged with one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm.
The matter was called before High Court Judge, Justice Riyaz Hamza in Lautoka yesterday. Salaba was not present in court. It is alleged that on December 25, 2021 Salaba, 35, stabbed her step sister-in-law, Salote Savuti with a kitchen knife at their home in Tauvegavega, Ba.
This is after discovering that she was having an extramarital affair with her husband.
Defence lawyer, Kelly Vulimainadave told the court that Salaba allegedly stabbed the woman on the lower part of her leg however, there were no serious injuries.
Justice Hamza set the next mention date for June 15.
