Cop Charged, Possession of Illicit Drugs

Javed Begg was arrested by Police after being allegedly found in possession of 0.047 gram of methamphetamine.

Case adjourned to July 8.

APolice officer allegedly found in possession of illicit drugs appeared at the Magistrate Court, Labasa yesterday.

Javed Begg appeared before Magistrate Seinileba Levaci.

He was represented by a private lawyer, Salakubou Raramasi, from Raramasi Law.

The court heard that on May 8 in Labasa, the accused was arrested by Police after being found in possession of 0.047 gram of methamphetamine.

The Police prosecutor, Constable Vishal Varma, said he had no objection for the accused to be released on bail.

Mr Raramasi said there was one relative present as surety and the accused would reside with his mother at Korowiri, Labasa.

Magistrate Levaci released the accused on bail and adjourned the case for mention on July 8.
