Gandhi Bhawan Primary School head boy Eneriko Turaga is aware of the responsibility ahead of him.

It is a challenge the 12-year-old hopes to share with the more than 90 prefects inducted last Friday to lead the 580 students at the Lautoka-based school.

The Naqali, Naitasiri lad who was born in Lautoka and raised at his mother’s village located in Nasauvuki, Moturiki in the Lomaiviti Group was confident of working with his team of prefects to instill discipline and maintain rules.

“My father is a Police officer and my mother stays home and looks after our family,” he said.

“This is also a big responsibility

given to me to be a good head boy and to be a responsible person. I just want to support teachers here in difficult times, I can always be here to help them and I want to dedicate my achievement to my village Naqali in Naitasiri,” he said.

Head girl Lanieta Apao of Pepjei, said: “I was born in Lautoka and grew up in Tavakubu, I’ve been a prefect since Year One except for Years Four and Five.

“I will help Eneriko and the teachers to look after the children and make sure the classrooms are orderly and students not getting into trouble,” she said.

The deputy head girl is Suhana Devi and the deputy head boy is Rethart Kumar.
