Byrne Hopes Ratave Will Recover Soon

- SEREANA SALALO SUVA Edited by Karalaini Waqanidrola

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua winger Onisi Ratave has not been on the starting line –up recently because of an injury, head coach Mick Byrne said in a zoom interview yesterday.

Questions have been raised as why the winger has been benched the last two matches.

Byrne indicated Ratave cannot play full time and he is hopeful that the Naqarani man from Noco, Rewa will recover soon.

“He’s carrying an injury which you know, it’s been difficult for him to keep getting up each week,” Byrne said.

“He’s done a great job to do what he’s done for us. And you know, we know that he’s probably got 30 minutes of rugby and we want to get the best 30 out of him which we feel he is thoroughly playing at the moment.

“He keeps presenting himself. So again, selection this week, we’ll make those decisions over the next 24 hours to see how he’s recovered from the last game and hopefully he has recovered enough to be available for selection this week,” Byrne added.

Other players who are still recovering from injury are halfback Frank Lomani, Leone Rotuisolia, Rusiate Nasove and Viliame Rarasea.

Meanwhile Drua will take on Moana Pasifika this Saturday at Commbank Stadium, Sydney at 4:35pm.
