Love yourself-’-----or else become overly possessive. The classic illustration of this form of self-destruction is the overly possessive mother.
I recall one particularly fearridden woman. She projected her fears on her growing son. She imagined he might get hurt in a variety of ways. This resulted not only in overpossessiveness, but in an overly protective attitude. Since she was afraid her son might drown, he never learned to swim. He never joined the Boy Scouts; she was afraid he might get lost on a mountain trip. He was never permitted to participate in athletics; he might get injured or even be killed. Today he is a tall, broad-shouldered, muscular, two-hundred pound baby.
Parents-----love yourself or spoil your children.
