Bula Fiji App Makes it Easier for You
New Zealand’s Solta and Singapore-based Smoove Xperience have teamed up to create a travel mobile app to further add value to visitor arrival information and updates.
Aptly named Bula Fiji, the service which connects visitors digitally with local Fijian vendors - is a travel mobile app combined with a local currency wallet creating a “digital travel desk” in tourists’ pockets, replacing the outdated and often cumbersome travel desks at airports and hotel lobbies.
With the grip of COVID-19 easing across many countries in the world, more travellers are venturing beyond their borders for a much-needed getaway.
For Fiji, this has meant a welcome influx of international tourists, eager to sample the unique experiences that we have to offer.
The increased tourist traffic also brings with it a unique opportunity for cutting-edge digital technology to make the experience of booking with local Fijian vendors easy and seamless.
This is exactly the sort of futurefacing service that a new venture, between Solta out of Auckland, and Singapore-based Smoove Xperience, aims to bring to Fiji.
Company chief executive officer Mark Povey, of Solta, who developed the app platform, said: “Travelers get frustrated with traditional travel desks for booking and paying of these activities in country hence the development of this seamless app to streamline the customer experience.”
Greg Duffell, Group chief executive officer for Smoove Xperience touted the benefits of the technology
Solution said: “A traveller can simply open our digital travel desk app, browse activities and services, book and pay directly.
“Or, if they are already in Fiji and want to pay at one of our participating merchants, they simply wave their mobile over the merchant’s point-of-sale (POS) device, and the funds are transferred immediately.”
