Ex-Police officer imprisoned 8 years for rape

Aformer Police officer was sentenced to eight years and 6 months imprisonment for one count of rape by the High Court in Lautoka.

The offender would have to a minimum term of seven years and 6 months before he is eligible for parole.

The matter was heard before Justice Sunil Sharma and the offender was represented by Alanieta Bilivalu while the state was represented by Saini Naibe. The court heard that the incident took place on November 9, 2017.

Justice Sharma told the offender he committed a serious crime against the victim.

The offender has 30 days to appeal his sentence at the Court of Appeal. SALOTE QALUBAU
