Adi Mere cherishes induction, while Ulaiasi dedicates badging to dad

For Adi Mere Pickering, being inducted as Nasavusavu District School head girl is a memory she will cherish forever.

The 13-year-old has attributed her achievemen­t to her grandparen­ts with whom she lives with.

“I’ve stay with my grandparen­ts at Naqere

Housing Estate in Savusavu since childhood because my mother works as a security officer at Nadi Airport on Viti levu,” she said.

“I am grateful to my grandparen­ts who have always shared their love and enabled me to live a discipline­d life. I have a younger brother who is also staying with us and we both go to the same school.”

Aspiring to become a health inspector, the Savusavu, Cakaudrove Province lass said she missed her mother over the years, but now with the new leadership role, she would keep her focus on the tasks at hand.

Head boy Ulaiasi Matia of Yaroi Village in Savusavu said: “I was surprised to be chosen by the teachers and I thank them for this blessing.

“My father works as a security officer at Koro Sun Resort and Rainforest Spa in Savusavu and I dedicate this achievemen­t to him.”

The 12-year-old is the oldest of four siblings. He said he was excited to work with 45 prefects, 16 teachers and 489 students from Year One to Eight.
