Head girl Vulori motivated by her hardworking father
Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College, Ba head girl, Vulori Savori, has taken motivation from her hardworking dad.
This is what will help her as she takes on a lead role at the school this year.
The 18-year-old said her dad, a vegetable farmer and her family’s sole breadwinner, always showed commitment when it came to the welfare of their family.
Vulori was inducted during the school’s prefects’ induction last week while fellow student Ravneel Maharaj was named head boy.
Vulori is the second youngest child of four siblings and aspires to become a nurse to help people who are suffering with health conditions.
Being inducted as the head girl made her anxious, but thinking of her hard-working parents encouraged her to say ‘yes’ to being the school leader.
“I feel excited and a little nervous because I have the responsibility now to lead the whole school,” she said.
“My father has endured numerous sacrifices for my family for many years, I see his hard work and it motivates me to take on new challenges in life.
Head boy, Ravneel said: “We want total discipline so that the students can achieve high marks in their exams and in future they can support their parents.
“My parents always encouraged me to do what’s right and we want to do the same with the students, tell them to do what is right and to do well in life.”
The 17-year-old Arts student said he aims to become a technical drawing teacher.
A total of 69 school prefects were inducted. The school roll is 289.
