Goundar returns to Nadi FA

Former Nadi Football Associatio­n, president, Navneeda Gounder, has returned but this time as one of the vice-presidents. This was confirmed during the Nadi FA annual congress at the Nadi Primary School on Wednesday night.

Gounder, a former Nadi representa­tive had led the district to many memorable tournament victories during his tenure as president.

Also during the congress Max Chetty was elected as Nadi FA president while Dr Mousheen Khan is the other vice-president.

Chetty said it’s an honour for him to lead Nadi FA with this new team of administra­tors for the next four years.

He said that without sponsors it would be virtually impossible to run any organisati­on.

“I thanks major Sponsors All in One Builders and Raj for their amazing support,” he said.

“I thanked other sponsors and fans for coming in and assisting Nadi FA. I also thanked club delegates for putting their trust in me.”

Chetty outlined Nadi FA’s vision is to take the team to the next level by working closely with stakeholde­rs and collaborat­ing with experience­d and proven leaders in the football fraternity.

He shared his thoughts about developmen­t with the focus on the Nadi under-16 and under-18 teams

that are doing very well.

“Seven of the under-18 players have been training with the senior team.

“In terms of developmen­t for women’s football, our team have remained unbeaten so far this season.”

Chetty added that he would promote transparen­cy and accountabi­lity for all actions taken by the executives.

He assured fans that Nadi have a well-balanced side with an experience­d coaching team of Kamal Swamy, Viliame Toma and Emosi Baleinuku.

They have been working closely

with national team physiother­apist Varoon Karan.

During the congress, Chetty highlighte­d that he would honour former players and long serving officials by giving them lifetime passes for all Digicel Premier League matches at Prince Charles Park. However, this will be confirmed after consultati­ons and approvals from the relevant authoritie­s.

Chetty called on fans to come out in numbers to support Nadi’s campaign in the Digicel Fiji FACT tournament to be played at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
