Ravisoli Targets Gold At Fiji Finals

Running during the interhouse competition at the ANZ Stadium in Suva means that the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Finals (Fiji Finals) is getting closer.

This was the view of Muaniweni College middle-distance runner, Jeremaia Ravisoli, who won the sub-junior boys 800 metres final yesterday.

Ravisoli is confident of doing well at the Triple N Zone and has set his sight on winning gold at Fiji Finals

The Nakakawalai, Naitasiri, lad clocked 2.47 minutes in the final.

Speaking to SUNsports, the 14year old said, it was the first time for him to run on the tracks.

“This is a special moment for me and it’s good that it rained a bit so my foot did not hurt,” he said.

“I guess it’s the beginning of a long journey in athletics for me personally.”

Ravisoli has set his sights on the Fiji Finals but first he must qualify from the Triple N Zone.

“I have only watched the games growing up but now I have a chance to participate in it. We

were excited to compete here at the stadium for the inter-house but I know the atmosphere at the Fiji Finals will be different. This will be my first and I’m working hard to get a spot there. Before the Fiji Finals, I have the Triple N Zone where I will compete against some good runners. My aim is to take one competition at a time.”

Ravisoli said he trains alone at the village ground.

“I run in the morning and afternoon. Training has been good but I have to put in more effort.

“I have to be super fit if I want to compete in the Fiji Finals.”

Meanwhile, Yellow House were crowned the 2022 inter-house overall champions with 30 gold medals, 29 silvers and 20 bronze followed by Blue House with 30 gold, 22 silvers and 17 bronze medals. Red House came third with 28 gold, 30 silvers and 29 bronze medals. The Yellow House took out the girls division with 13 gold, 14 silvers and 4 bronze medals while Blue House were the boys champions with 22 gold, 12 silvers and 10 bronze medals com.fj
