This year’s Fijian Tourism Expo has set the pace and created a positive environment for the team at Tourism Suncoast.

Tourism Suncoast represent the Northern part of Viti Levu, Rakiraki, which is known as the suncoast area.

The team represent the tourism operators and activity providers in the area because a lot of people have not been exposed to that end of Fiji.

Treasurer, Jean Tikaram, was there with the organisation’s secretary and also Duadua Beach Resort general manager, Savita Gounden.

Ms Tikaram said the responses from the international buyers had been great and people were very excited to be back in Fiji.

“They are also looking for more than the usual five star hotel which is exciting for us because it leads them to areas like us where there are little destinations and the little activities that we do,” she said.

“This whole experience has been a learning curb for me form the beginning till the closing and having the confidence to market yourselves to people that are bigger and better and more experienced and feeling and accepting the fact that you have got a good product is a personal growth for me.”

Wananavu Resort

Meanwhile, she said Wananavu Resort was expected to open next year.

“There’s a lot of growth happening in the area, one of the prominent resorts there, Wananavu, has been completely refurbished. It will likely complete in 2023 and definitely something to be reckoned with. The whole area is still quite untouched and doesn’t have that commercial feel as the rest of the country.”

Ms Tikaram said there was a lot of room for growth and by this time next year as more people especially tourists would see more activities providers and more accommodation there.
