Swami Vivekananda College to be led into next level by head girl
She said her inspiration of leadership comes from her parents who are restaurant owners in Nadi town.
Zu Feng Liu hopes to take Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) to another level. The 17-year-old was inducted on Thursday as head girl while Raynesh Charan was inducted as head boy.
The Year 13 student said the leadership role comes with a lot of challenges but she is hoping to take the school to another level.
“For five years I was here in the school. Last year I was a deputy head girl.
Being in a leadership role, there is definitely a lot of pressure but I want to take up this challenge and take the school to another level.
“I am a competitive person and I strive to be the best.”
She said her inspiration for leadership comes from her parents who are restaurant owners in Nadi town.
“They were both the eldest among their siblings. It was not easy moving from one country to another to start their own business. For 35 years they have been away from their relatives and families. That has inspired me,” she added.
Head boy, Charan said leading the school was his main goal since he joined in Year 9.
“I am very grateful to be given this opportunity because prefects have a lot of influence in schools. They can make a big change if they want to,” he said.
“I am looking forward to this year so that I can implement what I think is best for the students and the school.”
“I will lead by example on what could and needs to be done,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Guest, Jessie Tunikula Lagonilakeba who is a lawyer, reminded the prefects that the badge was an oath of responsibility, dedication, hard work and resilience.
