A 10-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping another child. What do you think of this? Who is failing?

I don’t know how the incident happened and it would be sad to blame the parents. However, I urge parents to spend more time with their kids. Get them involved in cultural and religious activities so that they can learn what is right and wrong.

LABASA

Children nowadays are exposed more to social media and can access sites which are restricted to them. Parents have no control over this. Parents and guardians should always be watchful when children are accessing their phones.

?? ?? Veena Wati The discipline level done to adults should also be done to these children. It is a good thing that the 10-year-old was arrested. If parents cannot teach their children, there are better institutions that can teach them.

?? ?? Richard Lockington The boy is at fault because he is at a stage where he knows what he’s doing and most people blame the parents but they must have taught him good values from a young age but he chose to take the wrong path.

?? ?? William Lomaloma I think its the parents, they are supposed to guide the kids. I am also a parent, I make sure I monitor what my kids do because kids are learning and they do whatever they see.

?? ?? Sakeo Turukawa This is a big shame to the society and Fiji as a whole. Instead of getting our kids involved in sports we should educate them more about crimes and its consequences.

?? ?? Veniana Turukawa I can’t blame anyone because this is the end of days according to the Bible. What we can do is to pray together as a family and advise children to refrain from rape.

?? ?? Ishne Murti This is shocking and can be due to parents’ negligence. Children are vulnerable and must be taken care of by parents at all times.
