New Police Commission­er for Tonga arrives from Australia

Nuku’alofa: Tonga’s Police Commission­er designate Rodney McLennan, otherwise known as Shane, is expected to be sworn in, after he completes his seven-days quarantine in Nuku’alofa this week.

The Prime Minister, Hu’akavameili­ku, announced on Friday that the King had approved the appointmen­t.

Commander MacLennan from Australia, would take up the position for three-years.

Brigadier Lord Fielakepa of HMAF has been Acting Police Commission­er, since the departure of former Police Commission­er Stephen Caldwell to New Zealand last year, after completing a six-year term in Tonga.
