Drua Aspire Local Players Says Byrne

-

While the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua take on 10-time Super Rugby champion Crusaders this Friday in Christchurch, aspiring local young rugby players will be keeping a close watch on the Fijians.

Drua head coach Mick Bryne said majority of those in the Drua team used to watch their idols that are in the Crusaders on TV.

“Some of the Drua players in their young days watch and follow the Crusaders team,” Bryne said.

“They will be playing against them on Friday, and while they are, there are young boys and girls in the islands (back in Fiji) watching you,” he reminded the Drua players.

“When they grow up they would want to be a Meli (Derenalagi), Mesu (Dolokoto) or Manasa (Saulo).

“You forge your own name, forge your own way in Super Rugby Pacific.

“Those kids now have a Drua to follow.”
