TELA AT 7TH SPOT

- KARALAINI WAQANIDROLA SUVA Edited by Naisa Koroi

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua first five-eighth Teti Tela sits at seventh position on the top points scorer list of the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific with 76 points.

Apart from displaying his pinpoint kicking game, Teti, 31, a regular Number 10 for Drua, has been accurate with his goal kicking and using sharp game management to his advantage.

The Daliconi, Vanuabalavu, Lau, lad played Super Rugby for the Reds and in the Australian National Rugby Championship (NRC) for Queensland Country and Brisbane City. The former 2011 national Under-20 who had migrated to Australia

with his family, was virtually unknown on the Fiji Rugby radar until the late 2019 when he represented the Flying Fijians against the Barbarians.

While his father Jiofiliti played club rugby at Ovalau, his mother Rosi from Sawakasa, Tailevu, was a former secondary school sprinter.

His maternal uncle, Mika Dreu, was a secondary school blue ribbon while attending Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS).

Consistent Tela had piled 14 points in the Drua’s latest 34-19 win against Moana Pacific on Saturday from four conversions and two penalties.

Top scorer, with another two rounds to complete this season, is Blues fly-half and fullback Stephen

Perofeta with 99 points. Tied at third spot are Bryn Gatland (Chiefs) and Richie Mo’unga (Crusaders) on 81-apiece likewise at ninth spot Matt To’umua (Rebels) and Reece Hodge (Highlanders) equal at 65 points.

Meanwhile, Super Rugby Pacific Drua flyer Vinaya Habosi is third at most metres carried so far with 1062m, followed by fellow Stallion and teammate Kalaveti Ravouvou at fourth covering 979m.
